Terms and Conditions

By registering for and participating in the Coast to Vines Walk ("the Event"), participants agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

1. Participation at Own Risk

Participation in the Event is voluntary and undertaken entirely at the participant's own risk.

Participants acknowledge that walking long distances involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Physical injury

  • Illness or medical complications

  • Fatigue, dehydration, heat-related illness, or sun exposure

  • Slips, trips, falls, and accidents

  • Risks associated with roads, footpaths, trails, uneven surfaces, weather conditions, and interactions with other participants or members of the public

Participants accept full responsibility for any injury, loss, damage, illness, or death that may occur before, during, or after the Event, except where liability cannot be excluded under Australian law. 

2. Health and Fitness

By participating, each participant confirms that:

  • They are physically fit and medically capable of completing the Event.

  • They have sought medical advice if they have any concerns regarding their ability to participate.

  • They are responsible for monitoring their own physical condition throughout the Event.

  • They will stop participating and seek assistance if they experience symptoms that may affect their health or safety.

Participants are responsible for managing any existing medical conditions, allergies, medications, dietary requirements, or health concerns.

3. Personal Responsibility

Participants acknowledge that they are responsible for:

  • Their own safety and wellbeing.

  • Carrying and consuming sufficient water, food, medication, and personal supplies as required for their individual needs.

  • Making decisions regarding their continued participation based on their physical condition and circumstances.

  • Following all instructions provided by Event organisers, volunteers, emergency services personnel, and authorities.

4. Support Services

The Event may provide pit stops, water, snacks, sunscreen, first aid support, volunteers, and other assistance.

Participants acknowledge that:

  • These services are provided as a courtesy only.

  • Availability of supplies cannot be guaranteed at all times.

  • Participants remain responsible for meeting their own hydration, nutrition, medical, and personal care requirements.

  • The provision of support services does not transfer responsibility for participant health or safety to the Event organisers.

5. Medical Treatment

In the event of illness, injury, or emergency, participants authorise Event organisers, volunteers, or emergency personnel to obtain medical assistance on their behalf if deemed necessary.

Participants acknowledge that any medical costs incurred are their own responsibility.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Coast to Vines, Back You, its committee members, directors, officers, volunteers, sponsors, supporters, and partners shall not be liable for any injury, illness, loss, damage, expense, claim, or liability arising from participation in the Event.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Personal injury

  • Property damage or loss

  • Medical expenses

  • Delays, cancellations, or alterations to the Event

  • Any consequences arising before, during, or after participation

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes any rights or guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

7. Participant Conduct

Participants agree to:

  • Behave in a safe and respectful manner.

  • Follow all road rules and pedestrian regulations.

  • Respect private property and public spaces.

  • Follow directions from Event organisers and volunteers.

  • Refrain from conduct that may endanger themselves or others.

Event organisers reserve the right to remove any participant whose behaviour is considered unsafe or inappropriate.

8. Photography and Media

Participants consent to photographs, videos, and recordings being taken during the Event and used by Coast to Vines and Back You for promotional, fundraising, educational, and marketing purposes without compensation.

Participants who do not wish to be photographed should notify Event organisers before the Event.

9. Event Changes or Cancellation

Event organisers reserve the right to modify, postpone, shorten, reroute, or cancel the Event due to weather conditions, safety concerns, emergencies, or circumstances beyond their control.

10. Acknowledgement

By registering for the Event, participants confirm that they:

  • Have read and understood these Terms and Conditions.

  • Understand the risks associated with participation.

  • Accept responsibility for their own health, safety, and wellbeing.

  • Participate voluntarily and at their own risk.
